When you are a tiny, adorable kitten, and your awareness of the world is only a few weeks old, everything and anything is a learning adventure. And a potential toy for your amusement.

The drapes? Scratching post! The sofa arm? Scratching post! Wiggling toes? Prey to hunt! Fresh laundry? New favorite napping spot! Dirty laundry? Litter box! Fortunately, kittens learn quickly, and most naughty behavior can be groomed out if you’re a persistent, watchful cat guardian.

Watch this adorable ginger kitten learn about running water for the first time. Is it a friend or a foe? Or is it food? If you paw at it, what happens? Does it bite? Does it purr? Is it wet? Is it dry? Learning is so much fun — and potentially fraught with peril!

For some reason, the water startles the kitty, and he goes into arched attack mode. But he’s still learning the nuances of balance, because he slips right off the counter. Fortunately his instinct to turn over and land on all fours is already developed! We have a feeling that this curious kitten will use that skill a few more times before he gets the idea. Thank goodness he’s got a human supervising his play!
