Forest the ginger rescue cat zips around with his wheelchair
Now here’s a scene to tug on the ol’ heartstrings of any confirmed feline fancier: About three years ago, a young scamp of a ginger tabby cat was spotted by a kindly passerby attempting to literally drag himself along the sidewalk to keep up with his mother cat and assorted siblings. Sensing that something was amiss with the kitty, the benevolent human took control and duly scooped him up and away to the All Valley Animal Care Center in Meridian, Idaho. It was there that it was confirmed that despite his most valiant efforts, the cat simply could not use his hind legs.
Since that caring intervention, the cat has become known as Forest. Here is his handsome mugshot.
During his spell at the All Valley facility, Forest has undergone a series of tests to fathom out exactly what prevents him from strutting around with the usual feline aplomb.
“We attempted many things to fix him, but as he grew it became more apparent he had neurologic problems in addition to his orthopedic ones,” explains his profile on the All Valley website.
Despite coming up short as to the precise medical origin of Forest’s conditions, people at the shelter have taken steps to help him live out a suitably noble life. Key to that plan is fitting Forest with a pair of wheels so that he can scoot around as he pleases.
Forest seems to have taken to a life on two wheels with much gusto. He likes to zip after a toy ball and even seems to have developed the technique of managing to finagle his hind left leg into some sort of a brake mechanism.
These days, Forest has become a fixture at the All Valley center — although he’s still technically up for adoption and would love to secure his forever home. If you have room and inclination, you could invite this two-wheeled wonder into your life.
You can view more information on Forest on the All Valley website. Before you go, though, check out this quick video of Forest in action.
