K9 police dog tracks down suicidal woman and saves her life
Suicide is no joke. When a person has thoughts of suicide, there is never any telling whether or not they will actually take action on the idea. When a Trooper by the name of Adam Schmidt was alerted to help the Old Orchard Beach Police help find a woman who happened to be suicidal, he knew time was of the essence. He and his K9 companion, Ibo, rushed to the scene and immediately began to assist in the search to find the woman who was known to be suicidal and also missing. She had not been seen in hours, and she was missing from her home. Worried, her friends and family called the police for help finding her, but no luck was all they had at that point in time.
The trooper and his dog took a piece of her clothing and used that to familiarize Ibo with her scent. It&rsquo-s then that the dog took the trooper on a long journey that lasted several miles. Knowing that this was probably the only chance that they had of finding the woman, all hope was placed in the nose of this police K9, who is thankfully very good at his job. The female had been missing more than 6 hours at this point, and it had already grown quite dark. The family was worried, and the trooper was on a long hike at this point through the woods. Finally, the dog made a very swift turn off his track and was able to successfully locate the missing woman deep in the woods. She was unconscious, but she was taken to the hospital where she is expected to make a full recovery. Her family could not be happier that this dog happened to be in the right place at the right time.
