Rescued pit bull becomes a foster mom to 16 puppies

The Lake City Humane Society in Florida rescued a pit bull mix pup (now known as Lacey) together with her only living puppy. Both of them were then placed into foster care and with regular care Lacey and her pup were nourished back to health. After her and her pup were saved, Lacey became a hero a saved abandoned puppies that are in need of a mother&rsquo-s care and touch. Lacey took in a total of 16 puppies and took care of them like they were hers. Lacey took in all ten puppies of the first litters. For eight weeks she took care of them and nursed them until they were ready to be weaned and move to their own foster homes. After that Lacey turned around and took in a second litter of abandoned puppies that are only one-day-old.

Lake City Humane Society director Laura Page said that their organization have amazing volunteer foster families, who really take good care of their homeless pets, but they could always use any extra help or volunteers. Page also acknowledged Lacey&rsquo-s kindness and praised her efforts to help saved 16 abandoned puppies. She said, &ldquo-With Lacey, we have seen a great example of a dog who is willing to be a mother to so many puppies. She is so loving and gentle with them – but now she needs a break from motherhood.&rdquo- Lacey is going to be spayed and the shelter is going to use the money from a grant that they received from Florida Animal Friend, a non-profit group that&rsquo-s dedicated to help organizations that offers low cost spay and neuter services all over Florida. Last year, Florida Animal Friend gave away a total of $600,000 to different grant winners and The Lake City Humane Society received a grant of $25,000 to help save needy animals.

After Lacey finish nursing the second litter that she took in, she will be spayed. The 17 puppies that she took care of are going to be spayed and neutered as well before they will be put up for adoption.
