Debate of the day: dressing up dogs
We know this is a hot button issue with dog lovers, so we want to tread lightly. We fully understand some people like dressing up dogs in silly outfits and costumes, but there tend to be two schools of thought on this. One, the people who think it&rsquo-s cute and funny, and the people who think it&rsquo-s kind of mean. Not mean like abuse. Not at all. Like a much simpler version of mean. The reason they think this is because the dogs obviously have no say in whether or not you put them in clothes. It could also be said that there are certain dogs who look rather &ldquo-annoyed&rdquo- or frustrated when they get put into outfits. That helps fuel the fire of the people who don&rsquo-t agree with it. So we wanted to ask all our readers. What do you all think of dressing up dogs?
So this is what we want you to do. Take to the comments right here on the website, or dash on over to our Facebook page and give us a like, then leave us your feelings. Do you think dressing up dogs is okay, or do you think it is cruel? If so, why? Before you do that, we want to make a couple things clear.
First, some toy dog breeds NEED to wear shirts and stuff in Winter because their tiny frames are more prone to get sick from temp changes and their bodies are less likely to be able to fight that. So if this is about a Chihuahua in a sweater, understand that the Chihuahua is wearing the sweater for a reason (in most cases).
Second, we think people who dress dogs up in costumes for Halloween are pretty awesome. That is a big exception to this rule. If it is Halloween, and your dog is dressed as a dragon or, as seen above, Superman, you are winning at life and we love you. The thing is, if you make your dog wear that same outfit on a random Sunday for the laughter of your guests, we are SO not into that.
But we want to affirm, this is not about what we feel. In case you haven&rsquo-t noticed in this article, we have stayed rather neutral. We do that for a reason. We have enough of a varied reader base that we do not want to alienate anyone by having an objecting viewpoint. We are here to entertain, not judge or condemn.
But having said that, you can tell us what you feel, so let us know. Dressing up dogs: It is okay or is it nay?
