According to Fox17online

Van Buren County Sheriff&rsquo-s Deputies were dispatched to the area of Lake of the Woods Public Access after hearing reports that two dogs were stranded on the ice about 50 feet off shore. The Decatur Hamilton Fire Department was sent to assist with the rescue. The fire department was able to launch an ice rescue device with a fire fighter on it and he was able to safely capture the dogs. Both dogs were taken to Van Buren County Animal Control in Hartford where they are being held until the owners of the two dogs are located. Charges could be filed because the dogs were at large and not licensed. Both dogs appear healthy and were not exposed to the open water for a long period of time.

As of right now we don&rsquo-t know the names of the dogs or the owners but we&rsquo-ll be sure to keep you guys updated if we hear anything. We&rsquo-re not sure if the dogs will be taken anywhere to be rehabbed either because they seem to be healthy. The thing to watch out for is whether or not this will be a criminal case. Why these dogs were out there in the first place is a mystery to all of us.
