Fisherman reunited with dog he lost at sea

At 75, Alfonse Attard is a very experienced fisherman and boater, so he did not even think twice about heading out for a day of fishing off of Altona Beach with his best friend, his Jack Russell, Jack. He&rsquo-d done it a hundred times before and never once thought that his standard fishing day would end in tragedy. However, the water about a mile off the coast was so choppy that his boat began taking on water. Now, as a born and raised Florida girl who has lived ten minutes from the ocean my entire life, I know that this is a bad thing. I also know how important it is to practice boat safety. We never go out alone- we always go out with friends and additional boats for safety measures, and it works for us.

Now, Alfonse was fortunate enough that as his boat sank, a passing boat noticed what was going on and they were able to save him. However, with the choppy water and the boat upside down and rapidly sinking, he was unable to find Jack. Heartbroken, he was taken back to shore, certain his best friend and darling dog was lost at sea, victim to the ocean.

Police were called to come and find the boat, and they did. What they found was the most amazing thing that they&rsquo-ve ever seen- the dog was still inside the boat, clinging to life and perfectly fine. When he was reunited with his owner, the photo snapped is one that will go down in history as one of the most beautiful photos ever captured on film. The happiness and relief shared by these two is contagious, and we are so happy to bring you this sad story with this very happy ending in every possible manner- we love that this dog is all right.
