Vending machine takes in bottles and feeds stray dogs in exchange
There is a brave new concept in the world of recycling. A company in Turkey has come up with an ingenious way to recycle plastic bottles and give back at the same time. The vending machine was created by a company called Pugedon and it takes in plastic bottles and in return it dispenses dog food. This dog food is provided for the local stray dog population to enjoy. The eco-friendly vending machine helps feed hundreds of dogs in need. The company takes the profits from the bottles that they collect and in return they pay for the dog food. This is a win-win situation for both the environment and the stray animals, which is a step in the right direction.
The machine is located near a city park, where many people come every day. Instead of throwing their bottles in the trash, they want to help the dogs, so they put their containers in the machine. As you will see in the video, there is a very hungry looking dog waiting for someone to put a bottle in the machine. Neighborhood children often collect bottles and bring them to the machine to feed the dogs. This helps clean up the streets and gives the children something to look forward too. In the video you will see lots of people coming up to the machine, with loads of bottles to feed the dogs. These kind gestures seem to happen over and over again.
This is a very neat approach to solving two problems at the same time. While it&rsquo-s unclear how many of these machines are out there, they seem to be making a major deference to both the dogs and the environment. The city of Istanbul has a very high population of stray dogs. Their numbers seem to be rising and some believe that there are more than 150,000 dogs roaming around the city. That many dogs in one place can cause serious problems. If these canines have no food source, they may attack humans and other animals out of desperation. Hopefully these vending machines will help feed these needy dogs and help prevent them from becoming dangerous.
