8 Of the cutest cat cakes
When I saw my first cat cake, I was blown away by the artistry, technique and sheer cuteness. It made me curious to see what other confections had been created by imaginative bakers who were inspired by a kitty muse.

It didn’t take me long to find hundreds of photos of adorable cat cakes from all over the world. These included fanciful cakes inspired by beloved children’s stories, quirky pets and Internet memes. Regardless of whether the baker was an amateur hobbyist or a seasoned professional, they all seemed to share one thing in common — a love of baking and a love of cats. Here are eight of the cutest cat cakes we found online.
1. White Cat Cake
This snowy white cat looks like she’s patiently waiting for a treat. Little does she know, however, that she’s the treat! This charming kitty was lovingly sculpted from rice cereal treats and covered in white chocolate ganache and fondant. The cake was created by Floralilie, a baker in Germany who was inspired to learn cake decorating because she wanted to make a special birthday cake for her daughter’s fourth birthday.
2. Cat Attack Cake
These pouncing cats, in full attack mode, were created by Picture Perfect Cakes for a 14-year-old girl’s birthday. Her family has three cats and one dog. Take a close look at the cake to see if you can spot the cameo appearance made by the family dog. Hint: The cats aren’t just pouncing on yarn. There’s a hapless dog in this montage, too.
3. Fortune Cat Cake
Maneki Neko, also known as a Fortune Cat, is the inspiration for this chocolate cheesecake. A Fortune Cat is a lucky charm popular in Asian culture that is believed to attract good luck and fortune. And who wouldn’t feel fortunate receiving this lucky cat cake for their birthday? This lucky cat cheesecake was created by Reggae’s Loaf Bakery in Bintulu, Malaysia.
3. Cat Cupcakes
Of course, an article about cute cat cakes wouldn’t be complete without showcasing some adorable kitty cupcakes too. These colorful fondant cats are perching happily atop delicious chocolate cupcakes. 5. Pop-Tart Nyan Cat Cake
Internet memes are a popular theme for cat cakes. Here’s one based on Nyan Cat, the Pop-Tart kitty that took the Internet by storm a couple of years ago. Nyan Cat was the fifth most viewed video on YouTube in 2011. Now, this pixelated cat is adorning cakes all over the world.
6. Cat Sculpture Cake
This cat cake looks so lifelike, you’ll be tempted to shoo the cat off the table. Created by a mother of four living in France, Claire (also known as Shoshannah84 on the deviantART website) writes that the cake was based on the family cat, Hamish, as a kitten. In her profile, she says she loves to sculpt, whether in wood, wool or cake. Her artistry and creativity certainly take the cake for wow factor. This cake is truly stunning.
7. Grumpy Cat Cake Pop
Here’s another cat made famous by the Internet. It’s Tardar Sauce, more commonly known as Grumpy Cat. On Bakerella.com, you can find detailed instructions and photos on how to make your own Grumpy Cat cake pops. It’s amazing what you can create with a little bit of cake, candy wafers and a toothpick.
8. Cheshire Cat Cake
Perhaps there’s no cat with more fame and longevity than the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. While you might think this whimsical cat cake was made for a children’s birthday party, it’s actually a wedding cake. The brightly colored tiers topped with a Cheshire cat were created by the Marmalade Cake Company. The wedding reception must have been one mad hatter party!
